TOUR OF EUROPE: Venice

Grand Canal

Venice. Venice. Venice. A sinking beauty.  Built on almost nothing this gorgeous city is slowing but surely disappearing. We explored all day, from St. Mark's Basilica, to the Murano Glass factory.  We wondered the tiny narrow streets by foot, no cars and no bikes will be found in the city. We bought venetian masks and ate pasta, and scored some free bellini's! We made sure to ride a gondola through the tiny canals to the Grand Canal! A experience I definitely won't forget, move over Venetian in Las Vegas, you got nothing on the real thing! If you are ever in Italy you NEED to make a trip to Venice.
We stayed in a small town just a boat ride away where the shop across the street had wine on tap, um yes please!

The whole clan! Best people ever!
St. Mark's Basillica
A view from our gondola ride.
Gelato. ALL DAY. Everyday.

WINE. ON. TAP.
Tips:
  • Get lost in the streets!
  • Buy a venetian mask or murano glass!
  • Go into the church!
  • Try and notice the discoloration in the buildings. That is probably from the sinking over time.

Hotel:
  • Pros:
  • It was on the beach!
  • Rooms were decent
  • The restaurant and market across the street were perfect!
  • Cons
  • It took forever for us to load up all the suitcases in the elevator and send them up to the floors.
  • It wasn't actually in Venice, but in a town just a boat ride away, so not really too bad.
